Savetheinternet.com The FCC is now deciding whether to reassert its authority to protect broadband access from phone and cable company take-over! The telecom companies want to be able to block access to online information and prioritize their own content and services over their competitors'.
The FCC needs to "reclassify" broadband and protect the open Internet for good. Our online future rests on the FCC putting the public interest before phone and cable company profits.  FreePress.net

Skipper 1964 - 1970

Vintage Skippers: Straight leg titian, brunette and blond shown above
Unusual color variations can also be found

Skipper is Barbie's little sister. She was introduced to the Barbie family in 1964.

This vintage straight leg (0950) Skipper (1964 - 1968) was sold with a red/white cotton swimsuit, metal head band (please remove this to prevent oxidation staining!), red flats, small white comb and brush, gold metal stand and brochure.

Skipper has blue eyes, coral lips and long straight rooted hair with bangs.

She has straight, non bending legs.

Markings: Skipper©1963/Mattel, Inc.

Example of a brunette B/L Skipper. B/L Skipper was also sold as a titian and a blond, with lots of color variations.

In 1965 - 1967 the bendable leg Skipper (1030) was introduced. She wore a blue maillot with red and white trim. red flat shoes, brass headband,, white brush and comb, gold wire stand, and booklet.

Markings:  ©1963/Mattel, Inc.

Both the vintage S/L and B/L Skippers can be found with the same hair colors and coral lip paint that often fades to a buttery yellow (photos above): blonde, brunette or titian.

Here are some examples of  the more unusual hair color variations that can be found:  light lemon-platinum blonde (also found on the Euro-Swirl Ponytail), a rich two-toned titan/brunette color (often called a 'Color Magic' Skipper, though I don't know why because the hair does not change color!), and finally a very dark (almost raven) brunette (photos below). It is definitely fun to collect all the hair color variations!

Unusual vintage S/L and B/L Skipper hair colors: very light lemon-platinum blonde (This doll was found in Belgium), raven and two-toned titian/brunette

Mod Era (pink skin) Skippers

1968 saw the introduction of the "pink skin" Mod Skippers with the bendable legs, rooted lashes and beautiful sweet faces.

In 1969 Twist N Turn (TNT) Skipper arrived.  She has pink skin, bendable legs a twist waist, and rooted lashes.  One version has long straight hair (blond, brunette and titian), while this version above has the two sausage curl pigtails (blond and brunette)

Dramatic New Living Skipper 1969 (also known as the Trade-in Skipper) was made to pose. She has rooted lashes and wears two shorter, very curly pigtails. blond

Skipper Re-issue: In 1970 the same vintage tan Skipper from the 60s was re-issued as a pink-skin Skipper. She wore the same red/white swimsuit and came in the same, vintage-type Skipper box as the tan straight leg Skippers. blond, brunette and titian (pictured here)
